A Food Experience.net is an online community for people with a passion for food and cooking. This is your forum to talk and listen with others about what drives this passion. Collectively, our knowledge and opinions make A Food Experience.net an expert's resource for food related information. At regular intervals we share a new featured article; it may be story, a letter, how-to information, or straight up editorials on just about anything food related. More important, A Food Experience.net relies on you for its success through your contributions, questions, and comments.
"Foodies" value and respect food as an essential component to life on more than one level. Obviously, it's a requirement to sustain life, but food also has a tremendous impact on our quality of life. Good food puts a smile on our face and so do the activities that surround the meal. For instance families gather around a dining table to share their daily experiences, tell stories of the past, and share dreams of the future. Our extended families commune at holidays, anniversaries, and other special events where food is the magnet used to draw each together. People maintain both casual and close friendships by leveraging the power of food to bring all together in one's home or at a favorite restaurant. A person's heritage is passed from generation to generation and expressed to friends through the ethnic characteristics of a meal. I believe that food has the power to influence our perceptions of moments in time, collectively influencing our view of life as both flavorful and full of zest, or bland and dull, needing a dash of paprika to spice up one's life.
The intent of A Food Experience.net is to provide a venue for people to share their experiences with food and in doing so enhance the quality of life for themselves and their fellow community members. This community condenses a wide variety of food-related information, stories, opinions, recipes, tools, techniques, resources, restaurants, reviews, etc. into one location. The only stipulation for membership is to participate!
New Experiences is our email newsletter. When you register to receive New Experiences you will be sent introductions to new feature articles, wine information, new recipes, etc... You'll also tip you off when members submit their content and commentary.
Fred Hoyle kick-started A Food Experience.net for two reasons: 1) he loves all things food 2) he needed to create a project to fulfill the requirements for a Masters of Science degree in Information Technology from the Rochester Intstitute of Technology. Can you think of a better way to motivate one's self to build a project than to do one about food?!!
